TITLE: Train Yourself To Be Godly - Unshakle

TODAY’S VERSE: 1 TIMOTHY 4:7
Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.

REVELATION:
Have you ever felt that you cannot achieve something, just because another person has told you so? It is sad to say, but sometimes our failures in life result from our reactions to other people's opinions. We may give up on following our dreams simply because someone has told us we would never make it.

Some years ago, I attended a circus with my family. The circus had a few trained animals in it, a tiger and some elephants. It was amazing to see those animals do their tricks. I've always wondered how animals learn to do the tricks that they perform in the circus, and why they never run away. Furthermore, it amazes me to see circus elephants tethered by a rope and a peg drilled into the ground, quietly awaiting show time.

The elephant can easily pull itself free from the rope by taking just one step - but it doesn't even try. For some reason, the circus elephant must believe that thin little rope is much stronger than it really is. This belief must have been drilled into the elephant's mind by a trainer who carefully taught him to believe that he could never escape. Of course this isn't true, which means that the elephant is held captive by a lie.

Each one of us has at least one lie engraved on our hearts that prevents us from achieving our maximum potential, which God has put within our reach. Today's verse reveals how we can overcome such lies, saying, "Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly".

Dear Reader, I don't know if you have ever given up on your hopes and dreams because of somebody else's opinion. I just want to remind you that with God, anything is possible. As today's verse reveals, we must train ourselves to be godly. It is only by following His teachings that you will learn to overcome the challenges that prevent you from reaching your dreams. Your training starts with putting your faith in Jesus. All you have to do is confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead so that you could be saved.

PRAYER:
My Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love, and for being the only one who truly recognizes all of my abilities. God, help me to train my thoughts, speech and actions to your Word. I pray that you will help me overcome the false words that discourage me from becoming all that you have created me to be. In Jesus' name, this I pray. Amen.

APPLICATION:
There is nothing wrong with seeking counsel from other people, but you should be careful who you turn to for advice. In my experience, the counsel that comes to me from God has always made me feel uplifted, rather than discouraged. I truly believe that seeking God's wisdom daily through His Word will strengthen you to make the right choices, and to realize your full potential.
