TITLE: Oh Taste And See

TODAY’S VERSE: PSALM 34:8
Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

REVELATION:
Have you ever missed out on a great opportunity because of discouraging influence from other people? We human beings are creatures that constantly need acceptance, we may not admit it, but it is true. It is because of this nature we tend to lean toward what society thinks we should become or do. We form opinions about certain things without trying them for ourselves. Learning from other people’s experiences is not a bad thing, but there are certain experiences that are better off to “taste and see” for yourself.

Today’s verse reveals one thing that you definitely have to “taste and see” for yourself. As I was meditating on today’s verse I was reminded of an experience that my wife and I sometimes face at the dinner table. I am not particular when it comes to food. If it is edible, it will be eaten. My daughter used to be the same way, not picky with her food, a delight for any parent. But this joyous ride is coming to an end; recently my daughter has started to become selective with her food.

Whenever we try a new dish, she refuses to eat it. She now says “I don’t like that”, even though she has never had it before. However most of the time after going back-and-forth with her she agrees to eat the food and ends up liking it. Afterwards when I ask her why she didn’t want to eat the food in the first place, the reason is always because so and so at school said something about that particular food not being good. She is slowly forming opinions about foods from what she is being told and not from tasting and seeing for herself.

Dear Reader, in this day and age where there are multiple sources that contain a mixture of facts and fictions about who Jesus is makes it very easy to get deceived. It can be challenging to separate fact from fiction from these sources. The only safe way is to taste and see for yourself who Jesus really is. If your opinion of Jesus is formed from what others have told you about Him, I encourage you today to dig into the original source (the Bible) which describes who He is. Also I encourage you to ask Him in prayer to guide you through this process. He longs for you to know Him. The first step towards knowing Him is to confess with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and then believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. Blessed is you who takes refuge in Him.

PRAYER:
My Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing Jesus into our lives so that we can experience who You really are. I pray that you will guide me to have a correct vision of Your character in my mind, heart and soul. It is in Jesus' Precious name I pray. Amen.

APPLICATION:
With an open heart with this question in mind "Who is Jesus?" read the book of John in the Bible.
