TITLE: Fear Not!

TODAY’S VERSE: ISAIAH 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

REVELATION:
Have you ever had a problem in the area of fear? Do you find yourself often thinking about the “what-ifs” of life? We all have experienced fear, fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of heights, and so on. Today’s verse reveals to us how to overcome fear. However, before we extract the cure from the verse let us explore why do we fear.

Fear is different for everyone, you can actually put two people in a same situation and one can be fearful and the other be fearless. I remember, in 2005, my wife and I, had an opportunity to go parasailing. To me the experience was absolutely exhilarating. We were strapped by life jackets and hooked up to the ropes that were connected to the parachute and up, high above the waters we were drifted. The view was magnificent. Contrary to my opinion, my wife found the experience to be frightening. She was very fearful.

Recently when we were reminiscing over that experience I asked her, “Why were you so scared?” And she replied “I am scare of heights, I mean what happen if the rope were to cut off that day?” She went on and described in details what could have happened, if those ropes were cut off. She explained how we could have had bones fractured or lung punctured. By the time she was done explaining what would have happened to us if we would have fallen, I was terrified. But, none of it happened! The vast majority of things we fear never come our way. We fear because we tend to think too much about what if things go wrong.

So, how do we overcome fear? Well, today’s verse tells us with clarity not to fear. Why? Because God is with us. He will strengthen us and help us. Do you know how much different our lives will be if we would just believe that, at all times? I think we would be willing to get out of our comfort zones and strive for greatness. See, fear often makes us take detours – we tend to avoid certain situations, we avoid friendships, we avoid challenges that bring opportunity of advancement, we abort lives and sadly we even avoid ourselves. Fear robs us of the best that we can be.

Dear reader, I am not sure what you are facing today in the area of fear, but I want to assure you, there is someone that is with you. As you can see in today’s verse, you are told God is with you. And He is instructing you, not to fear, because He will strengthen you and help you. He will uphold you with His righteous right hand. You need to turn you fears to God, for the cure of fear is trust in God. When you understand something of God’s strength and personal care, fear dissipates rapidly. Jesus, can lead you into this understanding. If you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, I encourage you to do it today. All you have to do is confess with your mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead so that you can be saved and live a fearless life!

PRAYER:
My Heavenly Father thank You for Your presence in my life. I pray that You will help me to put my trust in You. Help me to overcome my fears. In Jesus’ Precious name, I pray. Amen.

APPLICATION:
Well, to be honest this is still an on going struggle for me. So, I don’t have “1-2-3” steps per say on how to overcome fear. However, I am definitely going to try my best to follow what the verse instructed me and you to do. First, I am going to stop fearing. Second, I am going to recognize God’s presence in my life, by trusting that He is here. And finally, I am going to hold on, to His promises in my heart that He will strengthen me and help me when a problem arrives. I encourage you to do the same.
